End of Year Wrap Up

Well 2008 only has 4 days left. WOW that went fast. December also seemed to travel very fast. Christmas was a little different this year since Kris is stuck in bed. She is bent and determined to have a very eventful Christmas next year though. My kids got to get up at 5:30 am to celebrate and open presents before Dad had to go to the fire station. That definately made for quite a long Christmas day. When I was growing up we could not come out of the room until 7am. As I am now older I like that rule!
Last Saturday the girls had their very first dance recitle. They were so excited to get all dolled up and dance in front of everybody. Don't they look adorable! They did a really good job on their performance and are so excited to do it again.

I can't believe that Monday I will turn 29! That is just mind boggling. I don't know why but the big 30 just scares me to death! I can remember being little and asking my mom how old she was and she would always say "I am plenty-nine." I think I will start using that soon. I am happy that JC will have the day off and we can do something as a family. Still don't know what the 'something' will be.

The New Year definately has some challenges to look forward to. JC will be going to paramedic school until the end of August. I am a little frightened about that also. Just scared of the unknown really. It will be so strange to have a husband in the evenings on a nightly basis. Ever since we were married he has worked swing shifts or graveyards and now 24's. After 8 years of practically being able to do what ever I want at night, I think he will definately be giving me a bad grade in the wife department. Oh well!

So I hope all had a Merry Christmas! Happy Birthday to Me! Good Bye 2008! Happy New Year for Everyone!

Counting Blessings

I am so blessed to have such a wonderful family. The Lord has definately had His Hands in our lives the past couple of days.

Kristalee is recovering very well and may possibly be coming home Wednesday night if things continue to go ok. She will still need to recover from her injuries for about 6 weeks.

Today I went and helped her get herself cleaned up a bit. I combed her hair and helped her wash her face, neck and back. She said that it felt just wonderful. She was able to be moved into a stroke chair (which is a very large hospital wheelchair)and she said that she felt like a queen. She was so grateful for all of the love and support that she has recieved. Kris hopes that she will be able to return home soon so that she can feel a little more normal.

My mom is also doing ok. She said that she feels "like the life has just been sucked out of her," Her boss replied that 'it was and the angels put it back in for her.' She is slowly returning to regular life activities. My dad has been able to be home and help her. This has also given him time to work on his Honey Do List, which makes my mom happy.

It is really sad that emergency situations make you reflect on how important family really is. I don't know how life would be had this emergency gone any other way. It truely makes me grateful to know that the Lord knows each of us as individuals, and gives us what we need. In a way I am grateful for the new look on life especially because of the holiday season. It makes me reflect and know the true meaning of Christmas is Giving. I am grateful for the service that I can give at this time.

a stressfull 24 hours

Well yesterday was supposed to be my first day off with out having to do anything except watch the kids, now for you moms I realize that you say this is a full time job and I do not disagree with you but when it is only every now and again you get to spend quality time with the kids it does not seem like a chore at all. Jen and her sisters were supposed to go out to dinner to PF-Changs let me say LUCKY, that is one of my favorite places to eat. then they were going to go and see A Christmas Carol presented by the Hale Center Theater. Things changed a little at about 1330 or 1:30 in the afternoon when I received numerous phone calls from my wifes side of the family first it was Jen from the Pizza store tnen it was Levi on his way home from work, then Mark driving up and down state street, then Levi's mom called my mom who asked my sister to call me. I never thought that I was so popular in my life until I found out that they all just wanted to know the same thing. Where Mom and Kris could be at. Mark had received a phone call from Joyce stating that they were on State Street and had been involved in a pretty serious accident, then the paramedics took the phone away from Joyce so she could not say anything else. He called Levi to see if he had heard anything and the snowball started. I was asked to pull some strings make some calls and see if I could figure anything out, especially where they might be. Now you have to remember with those two in the vehicle they could be anywhere from Bountiful to Provo and who knows how many miles of State Street there are between the two. I called my friends and co-workers at VECC but they had no information I then called Salt Lake Police who said they were really busy and did not have any accident on state street and the only injury accident that they had was at approx 2100 s 700 e. I then got a phone call telling me that this was the accident site and they were being transported to IMC in Murray, this did not bode well with me knowing that it must be serious because there were other hospitals closer but they were going to a trauma center. Long story short the entire family found out where they were at and trickled in and out of the hospital E.D. throughout the late afternoon and early evening. Kris has a fractured right pelvis, and left ankle, a ruputered spleen and a contused liver, also had a concusion. Joyce was released last night with some minor bumps and bruises and a whole lot of pain (probably more of that today). Kris was admited into the 5th floor ICU Shock Trauma for observation for possible internal bleeding from the spleen, today Her husband says that she is doing fine although in alot of pain. So my ever so relaxing evening turned out to be one giant ball of stress I am just gratefull that they are going to be ok and that Jen is starting to De-Stress 24 hours later.

Don't you just love 2 year olds!!!!!

So I was at my moms house for dinner on Sunday and learned that my son and a few of his cousins decided on Thanksgiving Day to use my brothers Wii as a penny bank and stuffed a whole bunch of coins in the cd slot. I was so angry! I knew that I would have to buy a new Wii system and I did not want to spend that kind of money right before Christmas, and then just trying to find a new Wii would be an even harder challenge! We tried to take the machine apart but Nintendo has made it almost impossible to do that with out completely destroying the machine. As a last resort we ended up calling Nintendo and asked if there was anything that we could do. We were suprized to find out that they have heard of this happening before and it only cost us $67.50 to fix. My sisters are going to split the cost with me. All I can say is thank goodness we don't have to spend $300 on a new Wii system. YEAH!!!

Disney on ICE

Well 2 nights ago we went to the Energy Solutions Center in Salt Lake to see the Disney on ICE program. This is the 2nd year that we went to this presentation. Last year it was princess on ice and this year their 100 year celebration. It was a good time to just be with the family and the kids really thought it was fun also. We had really good seats 6 rows up from the ice and right in the middle so the kids were able to see the entire show really well. The girls of course thought it was awesome when the princesses did their portion of the show, A.J. sat on my lap the entire time and just was awe struck when Mickey Mouse came out, he would clap at the end each section never even wanting to get off the lap. after the show we of course got the kids each a little souvenir. My parents and sister are in Disney Land this week and we were unable to go so this was our way of continuing our Disney adventure as a family.

Check out our Pumpkins!

The kids were really excited about carving pumpkins. We searched patterns on line and mom did most of the cutting. Ok all of the cutting. They were really excited on how well they turned out. Dad thought they looked really cool when we lit them up that night.

Halloween was great fun!

Well Halloween has now come and gone. The kids got to go Trunk or Treating at our ward house and at their grandparents ward house. They all collected way too much candy but hey that is what makes Halloween fun. I got a crazy itch the night before Halloween and wanted to dress up. I convinced my husband to dress up with me. We looked through the closet and decided we would be hillbillies. All we needed was to get JC some overalls. We headed out on Friday morning to the DI but found that it did not open until 10am, and it was only 9am. So we drove around and found ourselves at the Salvation Army. All of their costumes were on sale for a dollar! Now I am a sucker for a good deal. We spent $2.20 and bought me a sorceress dress and J a Pirate shirt. They still had the origional tags on them and both sold for over $25. So long story short. I dressed up as a witch and JC was a Pirate! We looked great! It was fun and the kids were excited to see us getting into the Halloween spirit.

Pumpkin Hunting

Well both Jen and I had the day off, and the girls are off track so we decided to have a family day. With it being so close to Halloween and the need to purchase pumpkins any way, we decided to go to a pumpkin patch in South Jordan to search for the perfect pumpkin for each of the kids. It was fun being out with the family in the mild fall weather that we currently are having. AJ just kept running around saying "Baby Pumpkin" and pointing to all the little ones. Shayla was taken back by the green ones and kept asking why they were not orange. Haylee on the other hand could not get over the fact that there were white pumpkins all over in the patch, she also kept asking how they could grow if they were cut from their steams. We found many pumpkins that the kids wanted to take home and let them choose one out of the many to purchase.

A.J. is going to be 2

Only 4 days until A.J.'s Birthday, we celebrated with my family this past weekend and he got some cool stuff. One toy that he got is the Handy Manny tool box, for those of you who have not had the opportunity to discover Manny let me explain. Manny is a cartoon on Disney Channel Manny is the town repair man that has the ever helpful talking tools. A.J. has been saying for the past three days as he walks around with his new tool box in his hand "It is my Manny" then he pushes the button that plays the ever popular song with the tools bouncing up and down. Also Jen attempted and succeded with making A.J.'s cake, it is a WALLE cake, she baked and decorated all by herself way to go Jen.

Here we are!

The Spicer Family is a little slow at getting the blog moving, but here we are! Better late than never, right? We recently had our family pictures taken and what a great adventure that was. Two hours of sit down and smile. By the end our kids were not happy! But the pics turned out great. AJ our baby is going to be two next month and he will finally be on the wall in a family picture. Instead of just his blessing picture.
